Since October 2001, John has operated his own management consultancy business, assisting companies in these techniques, including such well-known names as 3M, Toshiba and Monogram.
Qualification and Experience
John studied at the University of London, where he obtained a BSc and PhD in Chemistry. Upon leaving university, he worked first for ICI Ltd, then Glaxo Laboratories before joining Unilever Ltd, where he occupied several management positions in Research and Engineering Divisions, including Technical Officer to the Corporate Office, developing advanced automated processing/production method for a Japanese toiletries company and serving as Technical member of the Corporate factory rationalisation committee.
After 10 years at Unilever, John joined CCL Industries Inc of Canada as Assistant General Manager and Technical Director, rising to General Manager, managing activities at 2 factories in Toronto. During his time there, he successfully phased out and transferred manufacture from one of their factories to an alternative location in the US. During his time in Canada, John also served as Director of the Canadian Manufacturers of Chemical Specialities Association and as Chairman of the Production and Technical Section of the Canadian Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrance Association.
In 1991, John returned to the UK as Managing Director of CCL Custom Manufacturing, increasing the company's Operating Profit by 25% in the first year of managing the 3 factories here. In his first five years, he also increased sales volume three-fold, and profit four-fold at the Scunthorpe factory.
John has now made his considerable knowledge and expertise available to other organisations by operating as a consultant in his own right.
